EXD MAG is a publication that provides an in-depth view of the contents of the EXD’13 Biennale. It is an interactive experience that offers detailed information about the conceptual framework of the theme of the Biennale - NO BORDERS - and the specific exhibitions, open talks, conferences, urban interventions and tangent projects. Furthermore, it is an essential guide that contains a plethora of useful information, maps and profiles of the many international participants that make up the fabric of the Biennale.

Structured in a work-in-progress format, EXD MAG reflects the contemporary and ever-changing nature of this event. As such, the contents of the publication will be updated as more information becomes available, allowing for subscribers to follow the process and development of the Biennale in all of its forms.

Since its first edition in 1999, the EXD Biennale has constantly grown in terms of its contents, conceptual framework and area of action. Standing as a dynamic and bold international platform that promotes contemporary culture through discussion and reflection, EXD organizes and presents original projects, concepts and ideas within the various areas of design, architecture, cinema, photography, multimedia and visual arts. Considered one of the most significant international design events, EXD goes beyond the material dimension of design, acting within various fields while involving a wide and diverse network of agents and world-renowned figures.

The EXD Biennale is the main output of experimentadesign, which is a unit for the production of knowledge and reality, as well as a diffusor of contents in the fields of design, architecture and project culture. Based in Lisbon, experimentadesign has had a fundamental role in the dissemination of culture and the stimulus of creative production since its creation in 1998. Using the discipline of design in all of its forms as its core operative tool, experimentadesign consistently and effectively focuses on generating contents, constructing networks and building research platforms with a strong emphasis on information and education.
